Trailer Roundup 26/04/2013

Thor 2: The Dark World

Our first peek at the new Thor flick is out this week. I wasn’t crazy about the first Thor, but there’s no doubt I’ll be catching this one. Especially since my Hollywood crush, Natalie Portman, seems to have a much larger part than the last movie.

Monsters University

The second trailer for Monsters U gives us a much better idea of the plot than the first. I’m totally going to see this movie, but with this and the recently announced Finding Dory, I just wish Pixar would go back to making unique, original films.

Ratchet and Clank

Confession time: I’ve never played a Ratchet and Clank game, except fooling around with them at friends’ houses. That being said, this trailer is awesome. It’s meta style reminded me of the great Chuck Jones cartoon “Duck Amuck”. Even though it doesn’t come out till 2015, I’m pretty excited about the movie. I better play the games by then.

The Bling Ring

A couple weeks ago I had the first Bling Ring trailer in the roundup, which, on its own, gave basically zero indication as to what the movie is actually about. This second trailer lets everyone in on the story and characters a little bit more. This is one of my most anticipated films of the year, as I’m a huge fan of Sophia Coppola, Emma Watson and Paris Hilton getting robbed. Everyone should watch this trailer and get as excited as me. Now, please.

The Grandmaster

Arguably one of the best directors of this generation, Wong Kar Wai (In the Mood for Love,  Chunking Express), is trying his hand at the martial arts genre, and it has me ridiculously excited. The Grandmaster is Wong’s take on the story of Ip Man, and it looks like a total turn from his previous films. I can’t wait to see this thing.

R.I.P.D.

I had heard before watching this trailer that R.I.P.D., based of the comic of the same name, was just a Men In Black rip off. I do have to agree with that, but that doesn’t mean the trailer wasn’t totally awesome. It will just be interesting to see how R.I.P.D. manages to separate itself from that film. I know one thing: Jeff Bridges helps.
